The point of the story is to highlight UKIP's double standards on its policy of excluding former NF/BNP members from holding office or standing as candidates. Since Heale's exposure we learn he has stepped down as chairman of South Thanet UKIP, replaced by his close colleague, Mike Taylor, who combines this new position with that of manager of Ramsgate UKIP's charity shop, selling Turkish-made dressing gowns. Very patriotic!
